If you are struggling in your sexual relationship with your partner, you can know that it does not always have to be that way. Many times, something unexpected is the cause of infertility or a lack of sexual drive. While a verifiable medical problem may sometimes be to blame, you may want to try making some changes yourself before heading to your doctor’s office. Here are four places to start if you are faced with a lack of fertility, sexual drive, or desire.

Exercise

Getting into shape can help you feel healthier and more vibrant in bed as well. A strong, healthy heart translates into good blood flow where it matters most. Try adding in cardio exercise if you have mainly been focusing on strengthening or stretching workouts. Even 30 minutes of heart-pumping exercise three to five days per week may be able to solve your dilemma.

Track Carefully

If infertility is causing you concern, you may be able to benefit from a tracking method, such as an app that tracks your basal temperature and your cycles if you are a woman. However, you can also choose to go the old-fashioned route with a paper calendar. Knowing when you are at your most fertile can give you confidence. However, if you have been unable to get pregnant after one year of trying, definitely see your doctor.

Look for Pharmaceutical Help

If you are a man struggling with a lack of stamina and an inability to maintain an erection, your doctor can help you diagnose underlying conditions that are causing this or can give you an ED medication to help you achieve better, longer-lasting erections. Erectile dysfunction meds can usually be taken shortly before you desire sex, giving you time for foreplay, which can further improve your drive.

Manage Mental Health

Mental health is often the missing puzzle piece in the sexual satisfaction puzzle. If you are confused as to why you are not often in the mood as you once were, you may be surprised to find that your anxiety or a lingering sense of stress is weighing on you. Consider ways to decrease stress, such as exercising, meditating or letting loose with a little playful fun once in a while.

Poor sexual drive or problems with fertility or desire can leave you feeling like less than your usual healthy self. Thankfully, many times, a simple fix, such as daily meditation or exercise, can help. Other times, noticing what is going on in your life or what changes you have made in your diet or health care regimen can clue you in to the problem. If you have not made any improvements within a few months, be sure to meet with your doctor to find out if there is an underlying cause for your issues or if a medication can help.
